The Subcommittee on Security and Defence will go over the prospects and challenges for the upcoming 2020 Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference with UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Izumi Nakamitsu. The debate will take place on 27 January 2020, and will feed into the ongoing consideration of a Parliament Recommendation on the 2020 NPT Review conference, and a report on the future of the multilateral arms control and disarmament regimes.

Die in Osteuropa aufgetretene Geflügelpest ist diese Woche erstmals auch in Deutschland aufgefunden worden. Die Politik und der Geflügelwirtschaftsverband rufen zu strikten Vorsichtsmaßnahmen auf.

Der Agrar- und Nahrungsmittelsektor will im Wettlauf um die Führungsposition in der Kreislaufwirtschaft nicht hinterherhinken und bringt sich auf kreative Weise ein. So können selbst die kleinsten Abfälle aus Anbau und Mastindustrie einen Mehrwert haben.

Zum 1. Januar hatten nur etwas mehr als die Hälfte der EU-Länder ihre endgültigen nationalen Energie- und Klimapläne eingereicht. Die Kommission will nun die Nachzügler indirekt an den Pranger stellen.
