La Cour constitutionnelle du Bénin reçoit, ce mardi 4 novembre 2025, les deux duos en lice pour la prochaine élection présidentielle prévue le 12 avril 2026.

Le processus préparatoire à l'élection présidentielle de 2026 se poursuit au Bénin. Le duo Romuald Wadagni – Mariam Chabi Talata, représentant la mouvance présidentielle, et le duo Paul Hounkpè – Judicaël Hounwanou, candidat de l'opposition sont attendus à la Cour constitutionnelle. Il est prévu une séance tripartite réunissant la Cour constitutionnelle, les deux duos et les médecins chargés de la visite médicale des candidats. Cette réunion permettra de fixer le calendrier de cette étape obligatoire avant la validation définitive des candidatures.

Trois médecins ont été désignés pour faire les examens médicaux : Pr Francis Tognon Tchegnonsi, psychiatre ; Pr Léopold Houétondji Codjo, cardiologue ; et Pr Angèle Azon Kouanou, spécialiste en médecine interne. Tous trois ont prêté serment devant la Cour constitutionnelle.

La publication de la liste définitive des duos candidats à la présidentielle interviendra après la réalisation de ces examens médicaux et la transmission des résultats à la Commission électorale nationale autonome (CENA).
