Der Rat hat zwei Unterstützungsmaßnahmen angenommen, mit denen der Referenzbetrag im Rahmen der Europäischen Friedensfazilität auf 2 Mrd. € angehoben wird; sie ermöglicht es der EU derzeit, die ukrainischen Streitkräfte zu unterstützen.

Dieser Rechtsakt soll Europol in die Lage versetzen, die Mitgliedstaaten in ihrem Kampf gegen neue Bedrohungen und Vorgehensweisen noch besser zu unterstützen.

Weekly schedule of President Charles Michel 23-29 May 2022

European Council President Charles Michel hosted President Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Prime Minister Pashinyan of Armenia in Brussels. They focused their discussions on the situation in the South Caucasus and the development of EU relations with both countries as well as the broader region.

President Michel held meetings with the Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency and political Leaders. They agreed to convene a meeting in Brussels in the next weeks to work upon a roadmap setting out the priority reforms and the political agreements needed to reinvigorate the EU path for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina, President Michel met with Šefik Džaferović, Željko Komšić and Milorad Dodik, members of the Presidency. They discussed how to give momentum to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European perspective.

Der Ausschuss der Ständigen Vertreter des Rates hat heute ein Verhandlungsmandat zum „CORSIA-Beschluss“ angenommen, der als Vorschlag vorliegt. Darin geht es um Meldepflichten im Zusammenhang mit dem System zur Verrechnung und Reduzierung von Kohlenstoffdioxid für die internationale Luftfahrt („Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation“, CORSIA).

President Michel continued his Western Balkan trip with a visit to Albania, where he emphasised the EU's firm commitment to Albania's accession path. President Michel also thanked Albania for standing united with the EU in the support to Ukraine.

During the first part of his Western Balkan visit, President Michel, speaking in Serbia, reaffirmed the EU's full commitment to the country’s accession negotiations. He added that the EU is counting on Serbia’s support to help end Russia’s war in Ukraine. President Michel also visited the Belgrade Science-Technology Park.

The co-legislators reached a provisional agreement on the single window for customs proposal which will make international trade easier, shorten customs clearance times and reduce the risk of fraud.
