Brüssel will Modebranche zu Nachhaltigkeit bringen

Die EU solle den Dialog mit der Türkei fortsetzen, um auf eine Deeskalation der Lage an der griechisch-türkischen Grenze hinzuarbeiten, so die Abgeordneten in einer Debatte im Parlament.

Die öffentliche Diskussion um Gentechnik in der Landwirtschaft ist weitgehend geprägt von Falschinformationen, Mythen und einem verquasten Naturverständnis. Unser Kenntnisstand ist heute ein gänzlich anderer als noch vor 30 Jahren, als die noch aktuelle Gesetzgebung zur Gentechnik erarbeitet wurde.

Rüstungskontrolle sollte wieder in den Vordergrund gerückt werden, so MEP Sven Mikser. Allerdings werde es "immer schwieriger, eine Einigung zwischen den entscheidenden Akteuren zu erzielen".

Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel hat sich erstmal öffentlich zur Corona-Epidemie geäußert. Deutschland sei Dank großer finanzieller Rücklagen und guter Notfallmechanismen gut gegen den Coronavirus gerüstet, sagte sie. Dennoch werde man "tun, was nötig ist".

Responding to the outbreak of COVID-19, European Parliament political and group leaders decided to modify the EP calendar of activities. All activities planned during the week 16-20 March 2020 will be postponed or cancelled. The date of the next SEDE meeting will be announced as soon as possible.

In the context of the exponential growth of the epidemic, the President of the European Parliament has announced a number of measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities.

Today, 10 March, the Conference of Presidents adopted a revised calendar of meetings and the changes concern the following:

· Next week (week 12) is a "white week" without activities (instead of a committee week),

· Committee meetings will resume on weeks 13 and 14 together with Political Groups and Plenary,

· The April I plenary session will be held in Brussels from 1-2 April (instead of Strasbourg, 30 March - 2 April),

· Week 15 is now a "white week" without activities (instead of a "turquoise" week).

Following that decision the AFET Committee meeting of 16 and 17 March is cancelled.

Die EU-Kommission hat der Aussetzung von Vorschriften zugestimmt, die die Fluggesellschaften bisher zu "Geisterflügen" gezwungen hatten. Der aktuelle Schritt ist allerdings keine Umweltschutzmaßnahmen, sondern der Versuch, die Auswirkungen des Coronavirus auf die Wirtschaft zu mildern.

EU entwickelt strategische Industriepolitik

Die Europäische Kommission wird trotz des Drucks einer Gruppe von Mitgliedsstaaten die Revision der EU-Wettbewerbsregeln wohl nicht vor 2021 angehen.

Heute u.a. mit dabei: Die Coronavirus-Ausbreitung und ihre Auswirkungen auf unterschiedlichste Bereiche des alltäglichen Lebens.

In der schwer von der Coronavirus-Epidemie betroffenen chinesischen Millionenstadt Wuhan dürfen einige Unternehmen wieder ihren Betrieb aufnehmen.

Die EU-Kommission will mit einem 25 Milliarden Euro schweren Fonds die wirtschaftlichen Folgen der Coronavirus-Krise abfedern.

Die EU-Kommission möchte mit ihrer Industriestrategie klimafreundliche Innovationen fördern. Für das Industrieland Deutschland bedeutet das milliardenschwere Investitionen. Die Zeit drängt, aber noch bleibt unklar, wie den Unternehmen unter die Arme gegriffen werden soll.

Zwischen Angela Merkels "Wir schaffen das" und einer Bundesregierung, die sich nach stundenlangen Debatten zur Aufnahme von lediglich 1.000 bis 1.500 Kindern durchringen konnte, liegen fünf Jahre. Die Verunsicherung der Unionsparteien ist unübersehbar.
