The 29th summit EU-Japan took place on 13 July 2023 in Brussels. A joint press conference was held at the end of the summit during which President Michel underlined that Japan is one of the EU’s staunchest allies and closest partner in the Indo-Pacific region.

European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at the 29th EU-Japan summit in Brussels. The summit provided an opportunity to display the increasingly deep and dynamic alliance between the EU and Japan.

President Michel received the letter of credentials from a new ambassadors to the European Union.
