In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the President of the European Parliament has established a number of measures to contain the spread of the virus and to safeguard Parliament's core activities. The current precautionary measures do not affect work on legislative priorities.
Core activities are maintained to ensure the smooth running of the institution's legislative, budgetary, and scrutiny functions.

The next ordinary AFET Committee meeting will take place on 24-25 January 2022.

On 13 December, the Committees on Foreign Affairs and Development and the Subcommittee on Human Rights will hold a joint exchange of views with the representatives of the 2021 Sakharov Prize laureate Mr Alexei Navalny - his daughter Daria Navalnaya and his adviser Leonid Volkov. Mr Navalny is currently incarcerated in a high-security penal colony in Russia and therefore cannot be present in person. The Sakharov Prize award ceremony will take place in the Plenary on Wednesday, 15 December.
