The World Climate Change Conference in Glasgow ends tomorrow. According to the current draft of the final declaration, the phasing out of coal is to be accelerated and subsidies for fossil fuels are to be slashed. Emissions harmful to the climate are to be reduced by 45 percent by 2030 and to net zero by the middle of the century in a bid to keep global warming below 1.5 degrees. Europe's press wonders how all these targets are supposed to be achieved.

A fiery exchange took place during a press conference in Athens on Tuesday: Journalist Ingeborg Beugel started a question she was putting to Prime Minister Mitsotakis by accusing him of lying about illegal pushbacks of refugees by the Greek authorities. Mitsotakis responded angrily that he would not allow the Greek people to be insulted with unproven accusations.
