With the victory of the conservative Nea Dimokratia in the parliamentary elections Greece is poised for a change of government. Today, Monday, party chief Kyriakos Mitsotakis is to be sworn in as premier. He has promised tax cuts and investment. While commentators can understand why Syriza was defeated they are nonetheless sceptical about the new government's chances of success.

Iran has declared with immediate effect that it will no longer adhere to the limit for uranium enrichment stipulated by the Vienna Nuclear Treaty. This step is the second breach of the 2015 agreement. Teheran had already announced recently that it intended to exceed the uranium reserves limit of 300 kilogrammes. Europe's press examines the reasons for and consequences of this escalation.

The conflict over the rescuing of refugees at sea is coming to a head also because of the increasingly threatening situation in Libya, where a civil war is raging. Last week at least 53 people were killed in an attack on a refugee camp near Tripoli. Since 2017 the EU has spent more than 90 million euros on strengthening Libyan border protection and the coastguard. Should this policy be continued?

A new study by the government-affiliated Turkish think tank Seta accuses international media of reporting that is 'hostile to the government'. It focuses particularly on the Turkish-language websites of Deutsche Welle, the BBC, Sputnik and Voice of America. The report includes biographies and tweets of journalists. Is the criticism justified?
