In light of the gradual relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions in Belgium and in accordance with the physical space available, the capacity of press venues and current social distancing rules, a limited number of journalists will be allowed to attend physically the press activities related to the Justice and Home Affairs Council of 31 August 2021 taking place in Brussels.

At the joint press conference with President von der Leyen, President Charles Michel outlined the main outcomes of the special meeting of G7 leaders on Afghanistan.

G7 leaders will hold a meeting on Afghanistan via video conference on 24 August 2021. The EU will be represented by European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
