At the eighth EU-South Africa summit, European Council President António Costa delivered opening remarks and emphasized the importance of this strategic partnership in a changing global landscape. Highlighting shared values of democracy, human rights, and multilateralism, President Costa called for strengthened cooperation to address global challenges such as climate change, security and sustainable development. He expressed support for South Africa's leadership, particularly in its G20 presidency, and emphasised the need for joint action to build a fairer, more secure world.

The Council adopted an assistance measure worth €6 million under the European Peace Facility that will benefit the Armed Forces of Montenegro.

European Council President António Costa travelled to Kyiv for the International summit on the support of Ukraine, on the third anniversary of Russia's invasion. He delivered his remarks reiterating EU's full solidarity and support for Ukraine and its people, as well as calling for credible peace negotiations that involve Ukraine and the EU. President Costa also emphasised EU's efforts to deliver on its defence capabilities and work towards a future where Ukraine thrives as an integral member of the EU.

Der Rat hat angesichts des andauernden Angriffskriegs Russlands gegen die Ukraine Sanktionen gegen weitere 48 Personen und 35 Organisationen verhängt.

Der Rat beschloss, eine Reihe restriktiver Maßnahmen angesichts der Lage in Syrien auszusetzen.

Gemeinsame Erklärung des Präsidenten des Europäischen Rates, der Präsidentin der Europäischen Kommission und der Präsidentin des Europäischen Parlaments zum dritten Jahrestag des groß angelegten rechtswidrigen Angriffskriegs Russlands gegen die Ukraine.

Der Rat hat heute ein 16. Paket wirtschaftlicher und individueller restriktiver Maßnahmen angenommen, die gegen wesentliche Sektoren der russischen Wirtschaft gerichtet sind, und mit denen Russlands Fähigkeit, seinen rechtswidrigen, grundlosen und ungerechtfertigten Angriffskrieg gegen die Ukraine zu führen, weiter eingeschränkt werden soll.
