EU ministers of finance today endorsed a statement on continuing bank lending for households and corporates experiencing temporary difficulties and on maintaining a well-functioning insurance sector, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Council appointed Brigadier General František Ridzák as new EU force commander for the EU military mission which contributes to the training of the Malian Armed Forces.

Presidents Michel and von der Leyen participated in a G7 Leaders’ videoconference convened by the US G7 Presidency. They underlined that the EU will continue to act in solidarity with the most vulnerable countries and communities, notably in Africa, and they called upon all G7 partners to join these efforts.

Speaking at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Brussels, President Michel outlined his ideas about the recovery part of the roadmap out of the COVID19 crisis.
