To cater for the disruptions created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Council today agreed on the deferral of certain measures related to cross-border information exchanges and VAT for e-commerce.

President Charles Michel highlighted the topics discussed by the members of the European Council in their video conference, especially the new MFF and the recovery plan. He also thanked Prime Minister Plenković for the Croatian Presidency.

Declaration by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain third countries with Council Decision (CFSP) 2020/651 of 14 May 2020 amending Decision (CFSP) 2019/797 concerning restrictive measures against cyber-attacks threatening the Union or its member states.

President Charles Michel presented the main results of the video conference of the Eastern Partnership leaders. They discussed long-term objectives and how to increase resilience in the areas of democracy, society, economy, energy, security, cyber, media, environment, health, and human security. They agreed to meet in person for the next Eastern Partnership summit in March 2021, in Brussels.

On 19 June, the members of the European Council will meet via video conference. EU leaders will discuss the issue of a recovery fund to respond to the COVID-19 crisis and a new EU long term budget.

The Council decided to renew the sanctions introduced in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation until 23 June 2021.

The Council today approved conclusions on enhancing financial investigations to fight serious and organised crime.
