The Council and the European Parliament reached agreement on the EU budget for 2020.

The EU issued a declaration on the latest developments in Hong Kong.

Im Anschluss an eine vor einigen Monaten erzielte Einigung mit dem Europäischen Parlament hat der Rat heute eine Richtlinie erlassen, die grenzüberschreitende Umwandlungen, Verschmelzungen und Spaltungen europäischer Unternehmen leichter macht.

Die finnische Ratspräsidentschaft lehnte es am Dienstag ab, einen von Frankreich unterbreiteten Reformvorschlag für den Erweiterungsprozess in der Runde der Europaminister in Brüssel zu diskutieren.

Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel hat Forderungen nach einer Erhöhung der öffentlichen Ausgaben zurückgewiesen. Derweil steigt Druck im In- und Ausland weiter: Deutschland soll eine Fortführung der Austeritätspolitik vermeiden.

Heute u.a. mit dabei: 20 Jahre EURACTIV, die Personaldebatten innerhalb der CDU, und der nächste Versuch, in Spanien eine Regierungskoalition zu schmieden.

MEPs have fought for and obtained better support for climate action, research, SMEs and the young in next year’s EU budget, after a second round of talks with Council on Monday.
