Following the 27th EU-Japan summit held via video conference, President Charles Michel summarised the three key areas of discussions: global issues like COVID-19 and climate change, bilateral relationship with Japan, and foreign and security policy.

The EU-Japan Green Alliance has been adopted on the occasion of the 27th EU-Japan Summit (held in virtual format on 27 May 2021).

The leaders of the EU and Japan will hold a summit via video conference on 27 May 2021. The EU will be represented by European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Japan will be represented by Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.

The Council approved today conclusions on a sustainable blue economy, which is based on four pillars: healthy oceans, knowledge, prosperity and social equity.

The Council today adopted conclusions setting the 2022-2025 EU priorities for the fight against serious and organised crime through the European multi-disciplinary platform against criminal threats (EMPACT).
